Introduction

by Jeremy Irons, West Cork Craft and Design Guild Website

Whether it be just two weeks a year or for a lifetime, West Cork attracts many people who want to get away from it all. Many who stay permanently are craftsmen and artists, able to work alone - people who draw inspiration from their environment and the slower way of life which is to be found here. Like themselves, their work is unique, often idiosyncratic and, as this website will show, their talents cover a broad range of disciplines.

The West Cork Craft & Design Guild was established to put the best of these artists in touch with each other, so that there might be a cross-fertilisation of ideas and that a standard of excellence could be maintained.

I am now the proud owner of several pieces produced by Guild members. I'm delighted that the arts are so well represented and respected here in West Cork, and delighted to be patron of the Guild.
