Irons Tapped For 'Cecilia'

CANNES --- Jeremy Irons has signed to star in Irvin Kershner's upcoming "Cecilia."
The deal was announced in Cannes Tuesday.
Irons will take the role of Giacomo Puccini in this tale of romance between an independent, strong-willed woman who is almost destroyed by her passion for opera and Puccini.
Talks are currently under way to bring Matt Dillon and hot French actress Virginie Ledoyen on board.
Shooting on the $15 million project begins in October in Italy.
"Cecilia" is produced by Georges-Alain Vuille and Kershner, with international sales being handled by BV Intl. Pictures.
